About Us:

The German Club is mainly a CCA for students with some understanding of the German language as all activities are conducted in German. We also organize events for the whole NJC population, which will be made known through announcements and our board next to the German Room in GR35.


Our Activities:

Activities for all students:

- ‘German lunch’ with German Food, exhibition and games in the linkway (once a year)
- Introduction to German language and culture (beginning of the year)
- Information about English study-programmes in German universities (any time in the German Room)
- Watching German films with English subtitles and playing German games

Activities in German:

Linking Schools Together

- School comparison project with the German School Singapore and the United World College. Hosting and visiting teachers and students of the respective schools for talks, discussions and lesson observations.
- ‘Creative Writing’, a project with the German School Singapore.
- German school movie night and graduation ceremony at the German school.

Excursions

German Centre of Industry and Trade in Jurong, German Embassy, Goethe Institute, Altvater - Jacob, Incineration Plant and Semakau Landfill, ARD-German television in Singapore, LEP - Graduation dinner at a German restaurant.

‘Study-programs in Germany’,’ Study-opportunities for Singaporean Students in Germany’, ‘Brain Gym’ , ‘Media in Germany’, ‘Berlin in the Literature’

Overseas Activities

- Immersion Programme for Year 1 students (two weeks in Munich and Berlin, two weeks with guest families in Altensteig / Germany)
- Hosting the German counterparts for 3 weeks: activities in school, Singapore and Malaysia.
- Get - togethers with parents and students.
- Practical Training at Siemens / Nuernberg for Year 2 students after graduation (Jan-March).
- Study-tour to Germany ‘ Studienstandort Germany’ for Year 1 students


Who Should Join?

Students with an interest and some understanding of German language are strongly encouraged to join.
