*Weather conditions in Singapore:

  • Hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 23oC – 32oC.
  • Occasional showers may be experienced in the day and/or night.
  1. All laptops to be brought must have an accompanying connecting LAN cable. Additional laptops will only be provided upon request.
  2. Participants should have their own transformers/adaptors for personal electrical appliances. Singapore’s voltage is 220 – 240 AC, 50 Hertz. Standard regular three-pin earthed power sockets are used.

Insurance

  1. For your safety and general well-being, we strongly encourage that all principals, teachers and student participants purchase their own insurance for their duration of stay in Singapore.

Student Administrative Information

  1. Photocopies of the participants’ student passes (or any form of identification pass which proves that the participant is a student of your school) must be faxed over by
  2. A soft copy consisting of a brief description of your school and school crest to be submitted via email by 27 April.
  3. Submit a *30 seconds Microsoft Powerpoint Slide(s) saved in PPT format by 11 May via email, depicting interesting pictures/scenes/activities characteristic of your school which you would like to showcase to the other participant schools during the Opening Ceremony.
    *Please note that the slide(s) may be edited to ensure proper synchronisation of the screening.
  4. Each participant to prepare and bring along a small gift/souvenir representative of your school/country (eg: collar-pin etc.) for an exchange of gifts among participants during the Farewell Ceremony on 25 May.
  5. Depending on your time of arrival in Singapore on 20 May, you may be asked to set up your posters for your projects immediately upon arrival to ensure that your team can have maximum preparation time for other activities.
  6. The dimensions of the display poster should be no larger than A1 size portrait (breadth: 594mm x height: 841mm). The panel allocated for your posters is A0 size portrait.

Teacher Administrative Information

  1. To make the seminars more meaningful, educators are invited to share their experiences at the seminars on topics along any of the following themes:
    • Pedagogies in Science Education
    • Interactive Digital Media in Science Education
    • Assessment in Science Education
    • Practical work in Science Education
    • Values in Science Education
  2. This sharing session will be an informal one, consisting of a 15-minute presentation by each participating school, followed by a question and answer session. The presentation can be in any form you deem most appropriate for your presentation
    (e.g. Microsoft Powerpoint , short video clips, whiteboard etc.).
  3. A laptop equipped with Microsoft Office 2000 and a DVD Drive, Visualizer and LCD projector will be provided for the sharing session. Additional audio-visual equipment can be provided upon request as stated in the ‘Particulars of Teacher/Principal Participant Form’.
  4. Please complete the ‘Professional Sharing’ (part III) portion of the ‘Particulars of Teacher/Principal Participant Form’ sent to you in the previous e-mail and return it by 18 April to Mrs Geraldine Ng at oh_phaik_sim_geraldine@moe.edu.sg so that we can ensure a smooth running of your sharing.
