Eligibility
 
All secondary 2 students with a good PSLE score or other relevant qualifications may apply.
 
Selection Criteria
 
The selection criteria is, in essence, holistic, and is based on a variety of tangible and intangible qualities
 
  • Academic excellence and potential
  • Leadership
  • Active participation in CCAs
  • Communication skills
  • Working qualities: A person who is a team player; who can learn independently; who is capable of creative and critical thinking; who is driven to excel and has a passion for lifelong learning and is willing to explore new ideas beyond the classroom and curriculum
  • Character qualities: A person who is compassionate, resilient, rational and responsible, has good EQ and AQ, and is a risk-taker with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Social qualities: A person who is sensitive to racial and religious issues and shows devotion to his country and its national values.
 
Application Phase [8 April – 30 April 2009]
 

All current Secondary Two students of good standing are encouraged to apply. A good PSLE score will stand the candidate in good stead. Candidates should have active participation in at least 1 CCA or holding leadership positions from Primary 5 to Secondary 2.

Only short-listed candidates from this phase will be invited for selection phase 1.
 

Selection Phase 1: Ability Test [1 June 2009]

 
Only short-listed candidates from the Application Phase will be invited for this phase.
 

The Ability Tests will consist of

     
a)

Abstract Reasoning Test

 
     
b)
Academic Ability Test (AAT)
- The AAT comprises Mathematics and English tests.
 
     

The Ability Tests will be held at NJC on 1 June 2009.  Candidates have to sit for all the tests on the same day.

An administrative non-refundable fee of $65 will be levied to cover the total cost of all the various tests for all short-listed candidates.

 
Selection Phase 2: Interview [15 August 2009] [22 August 2009]
 
Only short-listed candidates from the Selection Phase 1 will be invited for the interview at National Junior College (NJC) on Saturday, 15 August 2009.
 
Mailing of Decisions
 
Decisions will be mailed around end of August 2009.
